Bird & Wild Coffee Sponsors Dyll Davies’ Grand Tour 66 Challenge: Pedalling for Passion and Purpose
At Bird & Wild Coffee, we’ve always believed in more than just brewing exceptional, ethically sourced coffee. We care deeply about the planet, people, and the power of perseverance—and that’s why we’re proud to announce our support for a truly inspiring individual.
We are thrilled to be sponsoring amateur cyclist and passionate fundraiser Dyll Davies with €500 as he embarks on a phenomenal charity challenge: cycling the entire route of the 2025 Tour de France—plus much more—at age 66.
Meet Dyll Davies: Cyclist, Charity Champion, and All-Round Inspiration
Dyll is not your average cyclist. A former Classics graduate, West End stage manager, kitchen fitter, entrepreneur, and now retired tour organiser living in Céret, French Catalonia, Dyll has built a life defined by reinvention and purpose.
At the age of 66, Dyll is proving that retirement is no excuse to slow down. In fact, he’s doing quite the opposite. He’s setting off on a 6,500km journey with 80,000m of climbing, riding the entire 2025 Tour de France route—including the often-overlooked connecting sections between stages—completely unsupported and without a single rest day. His goal? To raise funds and awareness for three charities close to his heart:
-
Prostate Cancer UK, supporting men affected by a disease that has touched the lives of many of Dyll’s friends and family.
-
Men’s Minds Matter, in memory of a friend and colleague who tragically took his own life.
-
Millions Missing France, dedicated to helping sufferers of ME (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), including one of Dyll’s young cousins.
Why We’re Supporting Dyll
At Bird & Wild, we support sustainability in every form—whether that’s through our shade-grown, bird-friendly coffee that protects wildlife habitats, or by helping individuals create real change through determination and compassion.
When we learned about Dyll’s Grand Tour 66 challenge, we saw a reflection of our own values: a passion for doing things the right way, a respect for endurance and resilience, and a desire to make the world a little better—one step, or in this case, one pedal stroke at a time.
Dyll isn’t doing this for personal glory. He’s riding solo, carrying his own gear, and taking no shortcuts. It’s a journey built on pure heart—and we’re honoured to be part of it.
The Grand Tour 66: A Challenge Like No Other
Dyll's adventure is far more than just mimicking the Tour de France. While the professional riders race for glory over 21 stages with rest days and support teams, Dyll will:
-
Ride 6,500km including all 21 stages and the transfer sections between them.
-
Tackle over 80,000 metres of climbing, equivalent to cycling the height of Mount Everest nine times.
-
Complete the entire journey in just 40 days—no support van, no mechanics, and not a single day off.
-
Begin and end in his adopted home of the 66th French département, the Pyrénées-Orientales—hence the name Grand Tour 66.
It’s the kind of feat that would challenge someone half his age, yet Dyll is determined to do it all for charity, for personal growth, and for the love of cycling.
