Vegan Coffee

Aside from the (in)famous Kopi Luwak coffee, all coffee can be seen as vegetarian and vegan...

...can it?

On paper, coffee is of course vegetarian and vegan since it is 100% derived from coffee plants, so is 100% plant based.

But, it's not quite as clear cut as that....

Can coffee production harm animals?

Well, the short answer is, yes.

According to the UrbanVegan Website, "whilst the ingredients that make up coffee are vegan, the way in which some coffee beans are grown and processed doesn’t line up with a vegan philosophy. Not all coffee is made with the same care and love toward the environment."
