A seasonally sourced blend of South & Central American beans, medium roasted to produce a smooth and versatile coffee with dark chocolate tones, balanced acidity and bright floral aromas. 100% Organic Arabica Coffee. Swiss Water Process Decaffeinated Coffee. Strength 3.
About the Swiss Water Decaf Process
The Swiss Water Process is environmentally friendly, chemical-free, 99.9% caffeine-free, whilst having great taste.
At Swiss Water, they use water from the coast mountains of British Columbia to gently remove the caffeine until the coffee beans are 99.9% caffeine-free, while maintaining the bean's distinctive origin and flavour characteristics.
If the decaf you’re consuming has the Swiss Water logo on it, you can be sure that no chemicals were used to remove the caffeine from the coffee.
Note 1:This decaffeinated coffee is Fairtrade, Organic and Swiss Water Decaf Process, but it isnotcertified Shade Grown or Bird Friendly. That's because it doesn't exist yet and hope that, as we grow, we will have the kind of demand to request the Swiss Water Decaf people to decaf a batch for us (the quantities are enormous to decaffeinate coffee!)
Note 2:All decaf looks like it's been darker roasted because the raw green beans are paler after the Swiss Water Process. This decaffeinated coffee is medium roasted.
About Bird & Wild
For every bag of Bird & Wild sold, you are helping the RSPB Charity, Soil Association & the Fairtrade Foundation.
Working in partnership with the RSPB, 6% of sales is donated to the RSPB to help give nature a home, as well as being Certified Fairtrade and Organic.
Bird & Wild only roasts seasonal coffee certified as Bird Friendly & Shade-Grown by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Centre & contributes to support their research and conservation programs.
Our coffees are naturally grown under the rainforest canopy, a haven for birds and other wildlife & ideal conditions for nurturing deliciously different beans with a taste of the wild.
In the shade of tropical highland agroforestry systems, where the coffee shrubs grow beneath a diverse canopy of shade trees, coffee is allowed to develop complex, distinctive and smooth flavours.
Bird Friendly Certified coffees are grown on forest farms that protect the diverse tree canopy, providing a haven to threatened migratory birds, insects and other wildlife.
Coffee Preparation
Use fresh water for boiling. Once boiled, let the kettle cool for a few minutes, since boiling water burns the coffee. It is always best to put too much coffee in than too little. You can always dilute the coffee if it is too strong. A rough guide is 12 grams of coffee for every 180ml of water.
Coffee Storage
Keep your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place. It is that simple. Preferably use within 3 weeks.
About Our Packaging
- PE4 recyclable packaging include PE4 labels. Glass packaging for instant coffee.
- Compostable or cardboard outer packaging.
- Shredded cardboard for internal protection (instead of bubble wrap).
Donated to the RSPB
Over £75,000 donated by Bird & Wild to the RSPB since 2017.
I sell the Decaffeinated Swiss Water coffee beans in my coffee truck and it is just as nice as the regular beans. Full of flavour, great aroma and crema. It is best decaf coffee around!
A fantastic coffee from a company with wonderful values. The coffee is smooth, gentle, and genuinely delicious, even for someone as picky about coffee as I am! I also love the beautiful bird themed packaging and the company’s commitment to wildlife, ethical sourcing, and sustainability. As a bird lover myself, it’s a joy to support what Bird & Wild is doing.
This coffee couldn't be better if it tried. It's smooth, and the crema on top is just delicious. We ordered the decaf version, and it is not affecting sleep at all, so it clearly is well decaffeinated. The fact that it supports a charity and is grown in the shade does not cause deforestation! Love every sip.
Hi, we are serious coffee drinkers with a daily ritual of frothy organic coffee and borgia for my hubby, ( hot choc and coffee ), started this during lockdown and continued as we love it.....
We were unhappy with High St offerings so I started roasting my own beans to manage quality, mould in beans and push back against increasing prices,
After doing some research on my Horticulture course re farming/chemicals in coffee, BIRD & WILD came out as a much better option, they are actually a top drawer company with awards for their products, packaging, ethos, ecological commitment, growers support and quality... all top concerns on our list !
I can honestly say we are so impressed with the company and their products, we're sure we have the best coffee in our area every morning ....at home ! a delicious, relaxed morning pleasure, no extra charges for Oat milk or hot water.... it is the best way to start the day, thanks to B&W ............ David and Pauline :) x
I absolutely love the the taste of this coffee and the fact it is organic and doesn't cost the Earth is just amazing as it means I can enjoy my cup of tea in peace.
I love that Bird &Wild offer swiss filtered decaffeinated coffee beans, I love coffee but can't always handle the caffeine!
These beans provide me with a gentle start to my day, the taste is smooth and tonally warm (as well at literally hot!).
I am grateful this product exists and as an essential added bonus the company is ethical on multiple levels. 👍✨💖
I came across Bird & Wild whilst on the search for a decaffeinated coffee that was organic and also decaffeinated through SWP. Not only is it both of these things, it also tastes amazing! When I first opened the package it smelled delightful and I thought it wouldn’t taste as good- it does!
I’ve tried decaffeinated coffee that has no taste, but Bird & Wild has the sort of strength that you would expect from a caffeinated one. It did not disappoint and I will 100% be re-purchasing 😊
I used to think that I could tell when I am drinking decaf coffee, now I am not so sure. This tastes smooth and full of flavour. I add foamed soya milk which works well. I would really recommend, plus it is a bonus for wildlife!
Great to know that there is a company out there thinking truly ethically when it comes the process of making coffee. And donating to RSPB makes it even better. The coffee tastes great too. Hopefully lots of the high street coffee shops will start using this brand so those of us who care about the wider environment feel we can buy coffee relatively guilt free.
Phew just used the last of our monthly subscription and received reminder of upcoming renewal. Very good news : We found we now grind fewer beans for a brew compared to our old generic bean. Very happy.
I did some research to find a really good coffee, being a Horticulture student it was important to find a company that have a strong regenerative ethos and care for their fairtrade growers, we need high quality organic produce that is grown with the local environment in mind.
We signed up to a regular subscription for our Swiss Water Decaf 1kg bag and have been very satisfied with the coffee, the company and the price, recommended their coffee to family and friends who comment about the taste when they come round for a cuppa with us, thank you Bird&Wild..... P :) x
1. The coffee tastes good
2. It's great to know trees and wildlife habitats are being supported by my purchase
3. The company donates to the RSPB.
4 What's not to like?
The best decaf beans I have found. In fact, I love everything about and by Bird & Wild - they take care of every detail when there are queries and are trying their hardest to get, for example, the best possible solution for their coffee bags. Brilliant!
